Johannes Corrodi

“Thinking means distinguishing” – this principle of philosophical analysis guides my work. But distinguishing something doesn’t mean isolating it. Instead, the very act of conceptual distinction calls for establishing relationships and forging new connections. Thus the emphasis on “synapheia”.

I am Prof. Dr. Johannes Corrodi, a habilitated philosopher specializing in hermeneutics and philosophy of religion. Following my studies at the University of Zurich, Yale, and Cambridge (UK), I combine my ongoing teaching and research with an in-depth engagement with philosophical and theological texts in a consulting practice.

A central aspect of my work is the shared reading and interpretation of philosophical writings. From Plato’s dialogues and Augustine’s Confessions to modern thinkers like Hannah Arendt and Charles Taylor – the rich tradition of philosophy offers valuable perspectives on contemporary existential questions. In philosophical conversation, we select texts that speak directly to your individual situation and open up new horizons of thought.

Through close reading and systematic textual analysis, we uncover the thought processes of the authors and translate them into our personal context. In doing so, I combine conceptual precision with practical applicability. I find it particularly fascinating how historical texts often contain surprisingly relevant insights for life in contemporary society.

In my free time, I pursue the arts of graphic animation, wing foiling, and jazz/blues guitar.
